Confidentiality Statement

As a member of BACP and FDAP I abide by their Code of Conduct and Code of Ethics, these bodies both have specific Confidentiality Clauses which I follow when working with clients, and they are outlined below:

Counselling/Psychotherapy sessions are private and confidential; the information disclosed in this environment will not be shared with any other party without prior consent being sought from the client.

Exceptions to this confidentiality will be made if the therapist is given information about harm or potential harm being made towards others, if children are believed to be in jeopardy or if the client discloses the intent to commit an offence.  Under these circumstances the client will be informed of the actions that the therapist feels they must take to ensure safety to the client and others.
